Toys R Us Skylanders SWAP Force Preorder Deal Until 6/29

From now until Saturday 6/29, Toys R Us is offering several bonuses alongside all SWAP Force preorders! All preorders require only a $1 deposit and in addition to the Lightcore Hex that most retailers are offering as a bonus, Toys R Us is also including a SWAP Force poster and a free Giants single figure. These bonuses will be available once you pickup your preordered copy of SWAP Force. As of right now this is the best preorder deal available for SWAP Force but other retailers have yet to jump into the ring.

Lost Islands Super Tuesday: Polar Whirlwind, Hall of Legends, And More!

Good morning, portalflippers!

Another week has passed and with that comes yet another Lost Islands update from Vicarious Visions! Even though we’re getting it on Tuesday instead of Monday it was worth waiting the extra day. And here’s our rundown:

  • Polar Whirlwind: Even though Polar Whirlwind has yet to (officially) come home to the US, portalmasters abroad can now use their figure to unlock this much anticipated variant for use in Lost Islands. Impatient US portalmasters, like myself, can unlock her using the Spin to Win wheel or by paying 200 Gems to unlock her now.
  • Hall of Legends: Now that all 8 Giants have a place to call home, Vicarious Visions has turned their attention to the Legendary series of Skylanders. Just like the Giant houses the Hall of Legends pays out a random bonus of Gold, Energy, Kingdom XP, or Gems after a 6 hour adventure. The twist here is that it can be activated by any Legendary Skylander and costs 200 Wishin’ Stones instead of Gems.
  • Sales, Sales, Sales!: The actual “Super Tuesday” sale offers Lost Islanders a 50% discount when using Gems to speed up production or construction. Cherry is also discounted 33% for today only.
  • Summer Solstice: And in the most surprising part of this update, Vicarious Visions is teasing us with a Summer Solstice event that happens this Friday. Nothing else is known about it at this point but the event promises that it will change the game. Could this be the framework for the SWAP Force related updates as per our E3 interview with Guha Bala of Vicarious Visions? Friday will tell.

Wham Shell Added To Our Darklight Crypt Giveaway!

Our Darklight Crypt giveaway has finally hit 100 entries so as promised I’ve added a Wham Shell figure as a runner up prize! This out of print figure is part of the Forgotten 8 figures from Spyro’s Adventure that have not yet been reposed. If you’ve been following our E3 2013 coverage you’ll know that it’s highly unlikely that Wham Shell will be 1 of the 16 reposed figure releasing with SWAP Force. This may be your last chance to get your hands on one before they all disappear into private collections!

First Skylanders SWAP Force Adventure Pack Revealed!

To piggyback off of our last post about Gamestop’s Skylanders event on 6/22, it appears some stores had a flier that they were handing out to advertise it. If you manage to get your hands on this flier (my store did not have them) it gives us our first look at 1 of the SWAP Force adventure packs: Pop Thorn and the Tower of Time! User Tigorus on the Dark Spyro forums offered us this peek at the flier:

While the picture is unfortunately potato-fied, you can make out Pop Thorn, the Tower of Time, and two magic items which includes some sort of hammer and a gem. I know a lot of people are excited over the return of adventure packs in SWAP Force and personally I really like the look of this one. As we learn more details about the Tower of Time we will let you know!

Skylanders Sale @Gamestop On 6/22: A Wild Polar Whirlwind Appears?

The news just keeps coming today!

While I haven’t been able to get an official confirmation from Gamestop.com or from my local store, it looks like Gamestop stores will be having a Skylanders event on 6/22. While we don’t have a full list of their deals, it looks like they’ll be offering discounts on Giants figures and game bundles as well as offering trade-in bonuses when you put that store credit towards SWAP Force preorders.

Also, according to several other portalmasters, this will be the day that Gamestop stores finally have Polar Whirlwind in-store. Canadian Gamestop stores have already had Polar Whirlwind in stock for weeks now so it was just a matter of time before stores in the US carried her. However be warned that some stores might have already had their stock put out on the shelves so they might sell out prior to 6/22. As always be sure to check with your local store for the inside scoop.

Extended @SkylandersGame SWAP Force Trailer: Hear Wash Buckler And More!

Afternoon, portalflippers!

I’m sure by now most of you have already seen the E3 trailer for Skylanders SWAP Force. But have you seen the E3 exclusive extended footage yet? Prior to Activision premiering the new SWAP Force trailer on their giant screen at E3 it was preceded by 4 minutes of footage. This extra footage show Eruptor, Pop Fizz, and several SWAP Force characters setting up the stage and leads directly into the beginning of the official SWAP Force trailer. What makes this extra footage notable is that it allows you to hear several of the SWAP Force characters, like Wash Buckler and Stink Bomb, talk for the very first time.

Skylanders Weekly Deals 6/16-6/22

It’s another light week of Skylanders deals and the pickings are slim. I was expecting more in the way of ads for SWAP Force preorders since some retailers have started taking them but I didn’t see anything. Only TRU has any deals that are (almost) worth talking about. Check their ad below!

  • Buy 1 Skylanders Giants single figure and get 1 for $2.99
  • Buy 1 Skylanders SSA figure and get 1 for $.99

Again, not much to write home about and depending on your location the selection might not be worth the trip. However if there’s still a few figures you’re looking for this may be right up your alley. Check back next week as it looks likes some retailers will be offering deep discounts on Starter Bundles in conjuction with SWAP Force preorders (and the McDonald’s coupon will still be valid!).
